Paramount has just released a new trailer for Transformers One, its all-new animated movie detailing the early years of Optimus Prime and Megatron’s friends-to-enemies relationship. Feast your eyes below:
How early, you ask? At the film’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura just confirmed the film is officially set 3 billion years before the events of the live-action movies, literal eons before the natives of Cybertron realized they could transform into cars and trucks and cassette walkmen. Megatron and Optimus are still essentially teenagers–not to mention best friends. So, what causes their falling out? You’ll have to see the movie to get the whole story, but Steve Buscemi’s Starscream was likely a negative influence. Billed as the movie Transformers fans have waited years to see, it’s a veritable tell-all biography of everyone’s favorite robots of the 1980’s.
Transformers One stars the voices of Chris Hemsworth as Orion Pax/Optimus Prime, Brian Tyree Henry as D-16/Megatron, Scarlett Johansson as Elita, Keegan-Michael Key as B-127/Bumblebee, Laurence Fishburne as Alpha Trion, Jon Hamm as Sentinel Prime, and Steve Buscemi as Starscream.
Transformers One hits theaters September 20.
