When Kevin Feige arrived in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con in 2022, he brought news of two new Avengers movies. In 2024, he did kind of the same thing again, because so much has happened in between. Different directors, different titles, different release days, and different villains. But here’s the latest.
A new Avengers movie is now part of the lineup, replacing the originally titled fifth installment, Kang Dynasty: Avengers: Doomsday. It will bring Robert Downey, Jr.—formerly of Tony Stark/Iron Man fame—back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this time playing Doctor Doom.
And that’s not the only familiar name returning to the MCU for the next two Avengers movies. As was previously rumored, the Russo Brothers will be helming both Avengers: Doomsday (coming May 2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars—that title is not changing from what was previously announced, and will arrive May 2027.
